Larian Studios says some players have access to Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8, even though it isn't out yet. The final major BG3 update is currently gearing up for a stress test, but Larian its that, for some reason, players on PS5 can currently play it. The content drop is set to include some huge features, like a photo mode and more subclasses, and will be the RPG's last. To avoid any issues with saves, though, you'd be best waiting until Patch 8 is out properly.
If you've been patiently waiting to play RPG, you're going to have to wait a little longer.
"No, the Patch 8 stress test hasn't yet begun," Larian writes on Twitter/X. "Yes, PS5 players do currently have access to Patch 8. While we work with our partners to understand what's going on, please note that any new saves made while on Patch 8 will not be compatible with Patch 7. How's your Monday going?"
Back in a community update on Thursday Jan 16, Larian confirmed that it had a Patch 8 stress test planned "towards the end of this month." So while some PS5 players might think this testing is underway, Larian assures that something else is at play. You can for the chance to take part in the Patch 8 stress test now, but it isn't live yet.
The final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Patch 8 is a big one. Larian is adding 12 new subclasses to the game, cross-play between PC and console, and a new photo mode. This is BG3's swan song, introducing some community-requested features and giving us yet another reason to start the game over from the beginning.
