It's quite possible Helldivers 2 might be my pick for the best game of 2024. It's easy to forget quite how much the bombastic co-op game took over popular culture at launch – especially with later problems such as balance concerns and the PSN linking fiasco. Finally, however, it feels like developer Arrowhead has managed to climb back atop the hill. Recent Steam reviews sit at 90% positive. Key tweaks have brought back that rewarding satisfaction of blasting through bugs and bots alike. And now a new Warbond has arrived to give us new ways to mete out justice and liberty on those who would challenge Super Earth.

The primary highlight, as always, is likely to be the new selection of Helldivers 2 weapons. The first of these is the SG-20 Halt, a pump-action shotgun that has the ability to switch between stun ammo or armor-piercing flechette rounds, allowing you to adapt on the fly to best handle the situation before you.
New heavy submachine gun the SMG-32 s it, as does the PLAS-15 Loyalist plasma pistol. The latter offers that explosive touch you'll have come to expect from plasma weapons, with both semi-auto and charged shot options at your disposal and the ability to punch through even medium armor. That should put it in contention as one of the most useful sidearms to date.
The new UF-50 Bloodhound medium armor comes with the Unflinching ive, making you more resilient to being knocked off-target when taking hits. If you prefer the nimble light armor option, however, you can pick up the UF-16 Inspector, which offers that same ive on a crisp white outfit boasting the added mobility you need. Both also come with matching helmet options if you want to complete the look.
Rounding out the equipment options this time is Dead Sprint, a risk/reward booster that allows you to keep sprinting even when your stamina runs out. That sounds great, but keep in mind that doing so will gradually drain your health – so be sure to let your teammates know if you're planning to activate it.
Finally, there's an 'At Ease' emote and all the usual cosmetic options, including some very stylish black-and-red designs for your cape, emblem, player card, hellpod, exosuit, and the Pelican-1 dropship. I'm already very eager to put the PLAS-15 pistol to the test, but I suspect some of my friends will be sold on this latest Warbond just for those clean color schemes it has to offer.
The Helldivers 2 Truth Enforcers Warbond is out now. You'll need to spend 1,000 Super Credits to activate it, which can be earned by playing or bought with real money. Perhaps the best news is that if you've been away from the game for a while, there's a good chance you'll be granted a stack of medals from completed major orders when logging in, helping you unlock a sizable chunk of the right from the start.
