Riot Games is celebrating the life of the late League of Legends pro Maciej 'Shushei' Ratuszniak with an in-game title and skin. Shushei was a Fnatic player who was crowned MVP at the MOBA's first-ever high-stakes pro tournament. He died late last month. One of the best players in LoL's history, the Polish midlaner was known for using both AP Alistar and Gragas. Riot Games is now honoring his memory by offering up the latter's Fnatic skin to those who play three games as the champion.
On Monday April 28, Shushei's sister confirmed in a Facebook post (screenshotted by Polish outlet boop.pl) that the former Fnatic star died "after a short and fierce battle with cancer."
Fnatic, Riot Games co-founder Marc 'Tryndamere' Merrill, and the entire League of Legends community also paid tribute to Shushei with an outpouring of messages, and now Riot Games is commemorating the legend in-game.
"Together we Season 1 World Champion, MVP, and beloved player Maciej 'Shushei' Ratuszniak," Riot Games writes. "To honor his legacy, players can unlock the 'Shushei Forever' title for free, and additionally, play three games as Gragas to unlock his Fnatic Gragas skin. Thank you Maciej." The skin is available until Monday June 2.
Shushei was part of Fnatic when it won the League of Legends Season 1 World Championship back in 2011, where the Polish midlaner was crowned the tournament's MVP.
Ratuszniak's funeral took place on Monday May 5, at the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
