Marvel Snap is unavailable in the United States right now, in an outage that developer Second Dinner says "wasn't planned." The popular free-to-play card game for PC and mobile is published by Nuverse, which is owned by TikTok studio ByteDance. With the popular social media platform now offline in the US following the Supreme Court's decision on Friday to uphold a planned TikTok ban, it appears that Marvel Snap has been similarly impacted.
"Sorry, free Steam game alongside its mobile counterpart. The message adds that the team is currently working to restore service.
Second Dinner adds a further statement via X: "Unfortunately, Marvel Snap is temporarily unavailable in US app stores and is unavailable to play in the US. This outage is a surprise to us and wasn't planned. Marvel Snap isn't going anywhere. We're actively working on getting the game up as soon as possible and will update you once we have more to share."
The TikTok app and website have been taken offline in the US in the hours ahead of the new law's implementation. The ban arose from concerns around the app's links to the Chinese government, with America giving ByteDance until Sunday January 19 to sell the product to an approved buyer. Incoming President Donald Trump has told NBC News he will "most likely" announce a 90-day extension for the TikTok deadline when he takes office on Monday.
