New Minecraft update means you can now craft one of the rarest items in the game

The latest Minecraft update transforms the game by making one of the best and rarest items in the entirety of Mojang’s builder craftable.

New Minecraft updates vary in importance. Sometimes, Mojang releases a Snapshot and, while it makes a few nice, little adjustments, business in the blocky world continues basically as normal. Other times, everything changes. In recent weeks, the mechanics (and recipe) behind leashes have been overhauled and there have been significant alterations for ranged combat. Now, one of the rarest and most useful items in all of Minecraft, previously confined to Nether fortresses and desert pyramids is available for crafting. Thanks to Snapshot 25w20a, you can now make your own saddles.

Okay, first things first. With so many changes lately and, of course, the influx of fresh players after the success of the movie, make sure you're equipped with the Minecraft update, formally named Snapshot 25w20a, that meant finding one in a chest. But no longer.

You can now craft Minecraft saddles using three pieces of leather and one iron ingot. The recipe won't be available in the building game until you've collected one leather piece, but after that, so long as you have the ingredients, you can forge as many saddles as you want. In combination with the leash changes from a couple of Snapshots ago, which allow you to connect multiple animals on the same leash, instead of leading them one by one, it is now much, much easier to find and suit up your mount.

Also, if you have a saddle attached to your mount, you can remove it by using shears. Please note that you cannot remove your saddle with shears while still atop your mount – that would just be daft.
