Where is the Giant Squid location in Monster Hunter Wilds?
You can find the Giant Squid (correctly known as the Goliath Squid) in Area 17 of the Scarlet Forest. This is the large wetland area where you first repelled Uth Duna at the end of Chapter 1.
While some suggest the Giant Squid can only be caught during a Downpour typically brought by Uth Duna, this isn't true. The creature's biography page mentions its sole spawn condition twice: nighttime.
Fishing in the dark also helps the glow of the Goliath Squid stand out in the deeper waters off the shallow ponds in Area 17, making it easier to cast your rod toward.
Once you spot the Giant Squid gracefully gliding off the coast, aim your rod (using the Tentacle Jig you should have been given as part of the quest) as close to the larger part of the creature as you can.
When it bites, use the same strategy as with the Whopper (pulling with the creature rather than away) to sap its energy enough so that you can slowly reel it in.
Land what you'll now see is called the Goliath Squid to earn the 'Monster (Squid) Hunter' achievement and Lighting Topaz nameplate design.
