The major problems with Monster Hunter Wilds' UI are finally getting fixed

As it hits ten million copies sold, Capcom outlines all the improvements coming in Monster Hunter Wilds updates, including to UI and UX.

If you thought Monster Hunter Wilds had a lot of free updates coming throughout the rest of the year, Capcom's plans for the game's future have just got even bigger. As the developer celebrates yet another huge sales milestone, MH Wilds' director outlines an array of new content drops, performance improvements, and quality-of-life changes on the way.

To commemorate the game topping ten million copies sold in just one month, Title Update 1 mere days away, Wilds isn't going anywhere soon.

By far the most welcome news from Tokuda's letter is the planned quality-of-life improvements. Tokuda says "all areas" of the game will be improved gradually over time but pays particular attention to the overall UI/UX experience. Since launch, the menus in Wilds have been a sore point – they've definitely been my own major complaint. Luckily, Capcom is on the case.

"We will make it easier to access the information you need through UI/UX improvements in future updates," Tokuda writes. "The team also will continue to make additional adjustments and improvements to further enhance the overall feel of the game to curate an even smoother gameplay experience, including, but not limited to, the ease of restocking items, checking skill information, participating in multiplayer quests and using the Seikret; and camera behavior during hunts."

Tokuda also says Capcom is looking into more stability improvements, especially for the Steam version of Wilds. It's an "ongoing process," but fixes that reduce VRAM usage and an the DirectStorage version of the game are coming in TU1. There are even some game cycle balance adjustments coming (for things like the in-game economy) but these are early days yet. You can also expect the ability to preview the endemic life you've captured at the end of May, with layered weapons coming in a future update.

Tokuda also says everyone is getting a "free item pack" to celebrate the ten million copies sold. I'd expect this comes with crafting items, potions, and tonics you can use to help you along during hunts.

Capcom also has some weapon balance changes planned, which will be "implemented gradually with each title update." This means the Hammer is getting some "upward adjustments" at the end of May or during the second Title Update. On the other end of the spectrum, the Corrupted Mantle was "overtuned" at launch, causing it to build up more damage than Capcom expected. That's why it's being adjusted downwards in TU1, with all the other mantles improved to compensate.

Monster Hunter Wilds update UI UX

To close out their letter to the community, Tokuda says the team will continue to update Monster Hunter Wilds over time. This includes a collaboration with another Capcom series at the end of May, although Tokuda doesn't say what that is just yet. With Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Dragon's Dogma, and many more under the studio's belt, we could be looking at almost anything.
