Only in death does duty end. Such is the code of the sturdy, honor-bound Space Marine, devoted to protecting the Empire at all costs. One of the greatest Warhammer 40k games of recent years, if you've already bested all of Space Marine 2's toughest challenges, a giant update, on its way at the end of June, will test your resolve to its limit. Siege is a completely new, three-player PvE mode that pits you against endless waves of Tyranids and Heretics. You can't survive forever – but you can go down fighting, and take hundreds, or maybe thousands, of them with you.
Almost nine months since it was first released and Warhammer 40k game is still pulling in thousands of people every day, and sitting on 'very positive' recent reviews. If you haven't tried it yet, or you've been out of the battle for a while, the Space Marine 2 update sounds like a good (albeit punishing) reason to return to the fight.
Revealed as part of the Warhammer Skulls festival, Siege mode takes place on Kadaku, and pits you and two comrades against unending hordes of Tyranid and Chaos enemies as you defend an imperial fortress. You can't survive and death is inevitable. The goal is to kill, kill, kill as many of the Tyranids as possible – and earn for yourself a glorious end. Siege mode will be released on the same day as Space Marine 2 patch 8, which itself introduces new DLC for Ultra and Gold edition owners, and season holders.
The White Scars Chapter Pack contains a new champion skin for the Assault class, as well as White Scars-inspired skins for the stalker bolt rifle, combat knife, and occulus bolt carbine. There's also the Blood Angels cosmetic pack, which includes new armor pieces that you can equip to any of Space Marine 2's playable classes.
Space Marine 2's new Siege mode will be released on Thursday June 26. Patch 8 will also arrive on this date. Siege mode is completely free to all players. Also, if you want to try it before it's fully launched, Saber is running a pre-release test, beginning on Wednesday June 4. This is accessible via the public test server of the PC and Steam versions of Space Marine 2 – if the game is in your Steam library, the public test server version should appear under the main edition of SM2.
